Job Title: Membership & Engagement Coordinator
Reports to: Executive Director
Compensation: $35,000 – $38,000, plus competitive health benefits, retirement
savings, and generous vacation leave.
Location: Helena, Montana, preferred, other locations possible
Founded in 1936, the Montana Wildlife Federation (MWF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
an organization dedicated to the protection and conservation of Montana’s abundant
wildlife, our natural lands and healthy waters, and public access for hunting, fishing,
trapping, and other outdoor recreation. The Montana Wildlife Federation has a staff of
eight that works to support several thousand members around Montana and the nation,
as well as a network of affiliated conservation organizations.
The Membership and Engagement Coordinator plays a crucial role in maintaining
MWF’s leadership as an effective organization of grassroots advocates for wildlife,
habitat, and public access. The coordinator develops and coordinates data-driven
strategies to (1) recruit and retain a diverse base of members and (2) mobilize our
members and other grassroots advocates to take action on priority conservation
campaigns. In support of these activities, this position manages MWF’s constituent
information database(s), manages recruitment activities, and guides organization-wide
collection and management of data to inform outreach activities. In addition to managing
MWF’s membership activities, the coordinator represents the organization in
collaborative grassroots organizing/data-collection efforts with partner organizations.
Coordinate membership activities, including the development and implementation
of recruitment, renewal, and fundraising appeals (direct mail and online).
In collaboration with other MWF staff, develop and implement strategies for
mobilizing members and other activists to take action on priority issues through
email alerts, online petitions, social media, and other actions.
Manage MWF’s constituent/donor database(s), action alert email system, and
other list-building and list-management tools, including ongoing management of
data quality and security.
Work with partner organizations on collaborative list-building, mobilization, and

Advise/train/motivate other MWF staff to advance an organization-wide culture of

Other miscellaneous tasks as assigned.
Experience in grassroots outreach, membership development, and data
management, and/or a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
Skill in the use of standard office software.
Experience using and managing constituent/customer information systems
(donor databases, constituent relationship management systems, voter files).
Experience in developing and producing direct mail and online membership/
Understanding of the principles and tactics of data-driven grassroots advocacy.
Zeal for using data and analytics to advance membership and advocacy goals.
Commitment to building a diverse and inclusive grassroots organization.
Ability to organize workload, manage time, and work independently to meet
organizational objectives and deadlines.
Ability to work in a collaborative environment and share work with other staff.
Enthusiasm for fish and wildlife conservation and the promotion of hunting,
fishing, and outdoor heritage.
